Introduction to Cutflow

Hire AI actors and direct them with storyboards. Cutflow is an all-in-one studio for AI short-form drama production.

Overview

Cutflow is a short-form drama NLE (Non-Linear Editor) + AI generation environment that unifies fragmented AI video production tools into one platform.

Traditional AI video production required using separate tools for image generation, video conversion, and editing. Cutflow is designed so you can complete every step in a single workspace -- from character registration to storyboard creation, image generation, video generation, and export.

4 Core Problems Cutflow Solves

1. Character Identity Inconsistency

Problem: When generating AI images, the character's appearance changes from cut to cut, making series production virtually impossible.

Cutflow Solution: With the @ID Character System, you register a character once, and the AI generates a Character Sheet. All subsequent image and video generation references this sheet to maintain consistent character appearance.

2. Asset Management Chaos & Location Inconsistency

Problem: Hundreds of generated images and video files are not linked to their production stages or scenes, making management difficult. Backgrounds also change from cut to cut, so the same location looks different each time.

Cutflow Solution: The cut-based asset attribution system automatically links all images and videos to their corresponding storyboard cut. When you reorder cuts, the associated assets move along with them. The @LocationID location system lets you register locations so that consistent backgrounds are maintained across all cuts.

3. Credit Waste

Problem: Credits are consumed recklessly as you repeatedly generate images and videos until you get the desired result.

Cutflow Solution: The Keyframe pre-review system lets you verify results at the lower-cost image stage first, then generate videos based on images you are satisfied with. This minimizes unnecessary video generation costs.

4. Disconnected Workflow

Problem: Storyboard creation, image generation, and video editing are done in separate tools, breaking the production flow.

Cutflow Solution: In an integrated studio environment, you can perform all tasks on a single screen -- from script writing and character referencing to image generation, video generation, and export.

Production Workflow

Cutflow is not a simple text-to-video tool. It follows a process optimized for drama production.

 Design characters/     @ID / @LocationID  ->   Keyframe candidates  ->  Select representative & Video

Step 0: Character & Location Design (Studio)

In the Character & Location Studio, create and design your characters and locations. Verify the appearance with concept images, then generate Character Sheets and location images. Manage outfit changes and time-of-day variations with the variation system.

Step 1: Assign Characters & Locations (@ID)

In the script, call registered characters and locations with tags like @Seohee, @Cafe. Character Sheets and location images are automatically referenced to maintain consistent appearance and backgrounds.

Step 2: Keyframe Generation

Once you write a script, the AI automatically creates a prompt for image generation. It references Character Sheets and location images to generate 4 high-quality candidate images.

Step 3: Select Representative Image & Generate Video

You select the most suitable image from the 4 keyframe candidates as the representative image. This image is displayed as the thumbnail in the cut list and serves as the reference point for subsequent video generation.

Quick Start Guide

Here is a step-by-step guide to creating your first short-form drama with Cutflow.

Step 1: Sign Up & Log In

  1. Go to app.cutflow.so.
  2. Click the Sign in with Google button.
  3. Complete Google authentication, and you will be redirected to the dashboard.

Note: Google sign-in may be restricted in in-app browsers such as Instagram. Please use a standard browser like Safari or Chrome.

Step 2: Create a Project

  1. Click the [+ Create New Project] button on the dashboard.
  2. Enter a project name.
  3. Select an aspect ratio (9:16 portrait is recommended for short-form dramas).
  4. Select a resolution (1080p recommended).
  5. Click the [Create Project] button.

Note: All images and videos in the project will be generated with the selected aspect ratio and resolution. The aspect ratio cannot be changed after creation, so choose carefully.

Step 3: Register Characters & Locations

  1. Click the [Studio] tab at the top of the editor to navigate to the Character & Location Studio.
  2. Click the [+ New Character] button to register a character:
    • @ID: A unique identifier used to call the character in prompts (e.g., @Seohee)
    • Name: The character's name (e.g., "Seohee")
    • Appearance Description: A detailed description of the character's appearance
  3. In the detail panel, generate concept images (5 credits) then generate a Character Sheet (10 credits).
  4. Register locations as needed: switch to the Locations section, click [+ New Location], write a place description, and generate a location image (10 credits).

Note: You can register up to 10 characters and up to 10 locations per project.

Step 4: Add Cuts & Write Scripts

  1. Return to the editor and click the [+ Add New Cut] button.
  2. In the Cut Editor's Script tab, write your script using the block editor.
  3. Use Location blocks to set the scene, Action blocks for descriptions, and Dialog blocks for dialogue.
  4. Type @charactername (e.g., @Seohee) or @locationname (e.g., @Cafe) in the script to select registered items from the autocomplete dropdown.

Step 5: AI Image Prompt Auto-Generation

  1. After completing the script, click the [Generate Prompt] button.
  2. The AI (Gemini) analyzes the script and character information to automatically write an image generation prompt.
  3. Review the generated prompt and edit if necessary.

Note: AI prompt generation is free (no credit cost).

Step 6: Keyframe (Image) Generation

  1. In the Keyframes tab, review the prompt and click the [Generate Images] button.
  2. The AI generates 4 candidate images referencing the Character Sheet and location images.
  3. Review the generated images on the Keyframe Canvas.

Step 7: Select Representative Image

  1. Click on the most appealing image from the 4 candidates.
  2. Click the [Select as Representative] button to designate it as the representative keyframe.
  3. The selected image will be displayed as the thumbnail in the left cut list.

Tip: You can click an image to view it larger in the lightbox. Compare multiple images before making your selection.

Step 8: Generate Video

  1. Move to the Takes tab and click the [Generate Video] button.
  2. The AI automatically generates a video prompt based on the script and uses the keyframe as the first frame to produce the video.
  3. Review the generated video in the Take grid.
  4. If unsatisfied, generate additional Takes to compare.
  5. Select the best Take.

Step 9: Complete Remaining Cuts

  1. Repeat Steps 4-8 to complete the remaining cuts.
  2. Check the progress status of each cut in the left cut list.
  3. Adjust cut order with drag and drop.

Step 10: Export

  1. When all cuts are complete, click the [Export] button at the top.
  2. The final video will be rendered by concatenating all cuts.
  3. Download the finished MP4 file and upload it to YouTube, TikTok, etc.

Note: Sequence rendering (Export) is free.
