Character & Location Studio

A dedicated page for designing and managing characters and locations. Complete your designs in the Studio first, then focus on storyboard production in the Editor.

Overview

The Character & Location Studio (hereafter "Studio") is a dedicated page for creating, editing, and managing your project's characters and locations. It is a separate screen from the Editor, providing a focused environment for designing character and location appearances.

Recommended workflow: Design your characters and locations in the Studio first, then start building your storyboard in the Editor.


Accessing the Studio

There are two ways to access the Studio:

  1. From the Editor's left panel: Click the [Manage in Studio] link at the top of the Characters or Locations list.
  2. From the Editor's top navigation: Click the [Studio] tab next to the project name.

Layout

The Studio is organized into three areas:

Left Sidebar

  • Toggle between Characters and Locations sections.
  • The central card grid updates to reflect the selected section.

Central Card Grid

  • Registered characters or locations are displayed as cards.
  • Each card shows a thumbnail, @ID, and name.
  • Use the [+ Create New] button to add a new character or location.
  • Clicking a card opens its details in the right panel.

Right Detail Panel

View and edit the details of the selected character or location:

Character Detail Panel:

  • Basic info: @ID, name, appearance description
  • AI Description Assist (keywords to detailed description, auto-generated)
  • Variation list and management
  • Concept image gallery (generate or upload)
  • Character Sheet gallery (generate or upload)

Location Detail Panel:

  • Basic info: @ID, name, scene description
  • AI Description Assist
  • Variation list and management
  • Location image gallery (generate or upload)

Characters Section

Creating a Character

  1. Select Characters from the sidebar.
  2. Click the [+ New Character] button in the card grid.
  3. Fill in the creation dialog:
    • @ID: A unique identifier for use in prompts (e.g., @Seohee)
    • Name: The display name for the character (e.g., "Seohee")
    • Appearance Description: A detailed description of the character's appearance
    • Reference Image (optional): Upload a reference image of the desired look
  4. Click the [Register] button.

Limit: You can register up to 10 characters per project. Character registration itself is free.

Character Design Workflow

After creating a character, complete the design in the detail panel following this order:

  1. Write the appearance description: Write it manually, or use AI Description Assist to auto-generate from keywords (1 credit)
  2. Generate concept images: Generate concept images of the character with AI (5 credits) or upload your own
  3. Generate a Character Sheet: Generate a multi-angle reference sheet using the concept image (10 credits)
  4. Add variations (optional): Create variations for outfit changes, each with its own sheet

Concept Images

Concept images let you visually preview and iteratively refine a character's appearance.

  • AI generation: Click the [Generate Concept] button to generate an image based on the appearance description (5 credits).
  • Manual upload: Add images via drag-and-drop or the upload button.
  • You can generate as many concept images as needed until you are satisfied.
  • Concept images are used as references when generating Character Sheets.

Locations Section

Creating a Location

  1. Select Locations from the sidebar.
  2. Click the [+ New Location] button in the card grid.
  3. Fill in the creation dialog:
    • @ID: A unique identifier for use in prompts and scripts (e.g., @Cafe)
    • Name: The display name for the location (e.g., "Cafe")
    • Scene Description: A detailed description of the location's visual characteristics
  4. Click the [Register] button.

Limit: You can register up to 10 locations per project. Location registration itself is free.

Studio AI Chat

The Studio includes a built-in AI chat assistant specialized for design work.

Studio Chat Examples

  • "Make this character's appearance description more specific"
  • "Write a school uniform variation description for @Seohee"
  • "Change the cafe location atmosphere to a vintage style"

Descriptions generated by AI can be applied to the character or location with a single click of the [Apply to Description] button.

Characters & Locations in the Editor

The Editor's left panel also shows a condensed list of characters and locations:

  • Up to 3 items are displayed, with a "+N more" link if there are additional entries.
  • Clicking an item navigates to the Studio, opening the detail panel for that character or location.
  • Characters and locations cannot be edited directly in the Editor -- all management is done in the Studio.
